Meet The Team

Louis Calders

Louis Calders -
Commercial Director

Louis has over 25 years’ experience in the European waste derived fuels market. Prior to founding Eco-Power Fuels Louis was Commercial Director of an export business where he was responsible establishing fully managed international SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) and RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) off-take solutions.

His earlier career includes a number of senior roles in the UK recycling and resource management sector. This included over five years as director of alternative fuels for Shanks Waste Management and more recently acting as an independent consultant to some of the UKs largest SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) and RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) producers.

David Colakovic

David Colakovic -
Founder and Owner, Eco-Power Group

David Colakovic is the founder and owner of Eco-Power Group, a group of companies based in Doncaster that operate across waste management, civil engineering, biomass fuel, and plant hire. He launched the business in 2013 with a single skip hire operation. Today, it’s one of the largest independent recycling and waste recovery networks in the North of England, generating around £60 million in annual turnover.

Colakovic remains hands-on in day-to-day operations and business strategy. He oversees core subsidiaries including Eco-Power Skips, Eco-Power Civil Engineering, Eco-Power Wood Fuels, Eco-Power HWC, and Eco-Power Plant Hire. These businesses serve local authorities, companies, and households. Eco-Power’s facilities in South Yorkshire and Humberside process thousands of tonnes of commercial and domestic waste each year, producing materials like refuse-derived fuel (RDF), solid recovered fuel (SRF), and kiln-dried biomass. The group uses a combination of bio-drying tunnels, infrared sorting systems, and trommels to recover resources and reduce landfill use.

Eco-Power Racing, a modern horse training facility just outside Malton, is another of his ventures. Located near Langton Wold Gallops, it includes more than 30 stables and is being developed in phases with energy efficiency and low-impact design in mind. It brings together his investment in local sport and his commitment to environmentally responsible infrastructure.

Eco-Power’s name is well known across the region, thanks in part to long-term partnerships with local clubs and venues. In 2021, Colakovic secured naming rights to the Eco-Power Stadium—home of Doncaster Rovers FC and Doncaster RLFC. Since then, the stadium has hosted international football fixtures, large-scale concerts, and community boxing events. Eco-Power also holds the naming rights to the grandstand at Doncaster Racecourse and sponsors teams including Rossington Main FC and Doncaster Belles.

To focus the company’s charitable work, David Colakovic created the Eco-Power Foundation, a registered charity that supports causes across health, education, and hardship relief. Its projects include a £30,000 fundraiser for a young cancer patient, a charity football match in Brodsworth for a local woman’s medical care, and mental health awareness campaigns in partnership with #Walkingsbrilliant. He also contributes regularly to the Eve Merton Dreams Trust, which helps families affected by terminal illness.

He’s equally focused on creating opportunities within the business. Eco-Power Group prioritizes local hiring and supports apprenticeships, skills training, and long-term career development. From waste handling and engineering to plant maintenance, the group invests in jobs that support the communities it serves.

Outside of work, Colakovic is a family man with strong interests in boxing, horseracing, and golf. He sponsors youth boxing programs through L.A. Boxing and GBM Sports and is a corporate member of Wheatley Golf Club, where he’s known for his low handicap.

Colakovic stays involved in every stage of the group’s growth—from strategy to site planning—and values businesses that serve practical needs while contributing to local wellbeing. His approach continues to shape Eco-Power Group as a business rooted in practical service and long-term local investment.
